MICHAEL NATHANSON (He/Him) is an award- winning a ctor, writer and producer. He is best known as ‘Sam Stein’ in Marvel’s The Punisher, now on Disney+ and ’Dr. Zinberg’ in Steven Soderbergh’s HBO series The Knick; Other acting credits include: Succession; The Marvelous Mrs.Maisel; Madam Secretary; Unforgettable; Chicago Med; TheGood Wife; 30 Rock; Rescue Me; Elementary; Law & Order; Orange is the New Black; SIDE EFFECTS, directed by Steven Soderbergh; THE WOLF OF WALL STREET; TIME FREAK (Oscar Nominee-Best Short). He has performed in theaters across the country, including a run in the national tour of THE LION KING as Ed, Timon & Zazu, and most recently received the CT Critics Circle award for his performance as ‘Uncle Louie’ in the revival of Neil Simon’s Lost in Yonkers directed by Marsha Mason, at Hartford Stage. You’ve also seen him in a ton of national commercials, heard him in VoiceOver commercials and in animated projects, as well as audiobooks and dubbed Netflix and Disney+ TV series.
As Writer/Producer, he is in development on a number of projects including: DROP OFF, A half hour TV comedy series about parenting, co-created with Zach Baylin (Oscar Nominee for KING RICHARD); a half hour comedy pilot, THE SINGLE GIRL'S GUIDE TO THE MUTANT APOCALYPSE; and single cam dramedy, THE COMMONS, based on his neurodiverse sister’s life and her group of friends. Features in development include: CONTROL GROUP (which he co-wrote and is also co-producing), with Jennifer Carpenter (Dexter) attached to star, Noah Lang producing, and Liz Manashil directing; EVERYTHING HURTS, a dark relationship comedy in which he is co-producing and also attached to star, written/directed by Tom Putnam (‘The Dark Divide’, w/ David Cross & Debra Messing); JULIET, a feature based on Ira Storozhenko’s award winning short about a trans teenager auditioning for a high school production of Romeo and Juliet. In the Unscripted space, he is the creator of ‘WEED AND...” a ‘Daily Show’ meets Reading Rainbow' style series in development set in the world of cannabis, with Jaleel White attached to host. Other unscripted projects in development include: ’SPEC-TACULAR!’, a ‘glee project’ inspired show about a group of neurodiverse young adults writing and performing an original musical; ‘THE MANDATE’, a ‘Love is Blind’ style dating show for dads over 40 looking for friendships. ‘GEEK EATS’, a travelogue style show exploring the landscape of 'Nerd' food and drink culture around the world.
Michael was a creative director with the NYC based immersive cinema event production company BBQ FILMS, where he collaborated with movie studios, production companies, and branded content partners from all over the globe. Productions included: 'Blade Rave' at Terminal 5 in NYC ‘Ghostbusters HQ’ with Sony at Villain in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, ‘Beetlejuice’s Wedding’ at House of Yes, 'Return to TWIN PEAKS' with Showtime.
Michael is currently host and creator/exec producer of ‘Playing Dead’, a soon to be released interview based hybrid Podcast set in the pop culture/comic con universe, produced by LIONSGATE STUDIOS.
Michael lives in Los Angeles with his wife and twin daughters.
